As singer songwriter I'm continually seeking new musical ideas I can share with my listeners. As a producer and recording engineer I want to always want to improve upon the recordings I produce. With False Sense of Security I believe I have accomplished both - new music and better recordings.
Of course I haven't completed my musical journey yet so there will be more new music from me available in the future. So until then sit back and enjoy eleven new tunes from my False Sense of Security album.
The complete False Sense of Security album in under 3 minutes
Rick Troutman started his musical journey when he was 12 years old when he started playing guitar and fell in love with six steel strings. A Texas native, Rick was bitten by the Blues Music bug decades ago and he hasn't let go of it since. He began writing and performing his own compositions when he was in 8th grade. Since then Rick has played in numerous bands and developed into a top notch professional lead guitarist and song writer.
"I really became interested in multi-track recording when I heard Les Paul and Mary Ford's version of "How High The Moon", Rick said. "When Sir Paul McCartney and Pete Townshend released their albums that they wrote and performed all of the instruments on I knew one day that's what I wanted to do", stated Rick. Rick's first attempt at multi-track recording was in college when he convinced the engineer at the local college radio station to record one of his tunes. "I still remember when the engineer asked me about my band and I said I was the band he was a little concerned to say the least. But after recording my original tune he realized I was the real deal", Rick said. It wasn't until years later Rick's dream of recording his first album happened in1994 when he released "I Would Have Been Home Sooner" . Rick penned all of the songs, sang and laid down all of the guitar parts the remainder was completed by studio musicians. Now 26 years later Rick takes a new musical direction with the release of "Texas Vagabond"
Rick will tell you that recording music has come a long ways since the days of big reels of two inch tape and 16 channel analog recording capabilities. "Now I can do exactly what I wanted to do 50 years ago, write songs, perform all of the instruments and engineer the final product", Rick commented. And that's exactly what Rick did on his Texas Vagabond album all songs were composed by Rick, performed by Rick, engineered and mastered by Rick. "If my listeners don't like Texas Vagabond I only have one person to blame, me", Rick said. Rick's passion for music has never waned after retiring from years in the corporate world Rick can now focus his time in writing and performing songs. "I'm really excited for people to hear Texas Vagabond and I look forward to their comments and starting on my next project. I may consider myself the oldest rookie in the recording game but at least I'm in it", Rick stated.
